Our Movement
Established in 2004 as a faith-based outreach ministry, Community Works (CWCDC) is a Northeast Houston community-based movement devoted to working together, empowering people and transforming our community. Through the power of faith we will produce strong families who are well prepared for the workforce and for life. We will produce high demand career and vocational training opportunities to increase economic independence for individuals and families. We will transform the economic landscape of Northeast Houston through neighborhood revitalization and affordable housing.

In these unprecedented times Community Works CDC is committed to being a staple of support and aid in Northeast Houston. Through Hurricane Harvey, Covid, freeze storms and community crisis, we provide food distribution, shelter, PPE, financial assistance, basic needs and support services.

• 19 financial literacy / home buyer assistance graduates purchased a home within one year
• 9 small business owners, coached and funded with no interest micro loans
• 12 volunteers activated for disaster relief & home repairs
Our Accomplishments
More than 7,200 people were served by the Community Works CDC in the last three years.
We successfully:
- Served nearly 7,000 Hurricane Harvey survivors with basic needs, case management, financial
assistance, and support services. - Empowered nearly 150 youth in academics, life-skills, and enrichment programming.
- Offered financial assistance to more than 900 families.
- Received more than 12,000 meals in food donations.
- Assisted almost 60 job candidates achieve gainful employment.
- Guided roughly 50 clients through first-time home buyer education leading to 8 closings.
- Attracted and retained more than 500 volunteers.
